(No Β hassle, wasted time and cost of hanging around at airports.)

Game Lodges near Port Elizabeth and the Garden Route

Most Eastern Cape game lodges are within 1 to 1.5 hours of Gqeberha/ Port Elizabeth, Some are perhaps a little too accessible so that you may not feel that you’re in the β€˜bush’. But we've visited every game lodge in the Eastern Cape. With our 30 years' experience we can guide you to the one that best suits your style.

The natural bushveld and temperate climate supports plenty of plains game and their associated predators. Many reserves have also invested in clearing alien vegetation, resulting in excellent biodiversity and consistently good game-viewing.. (Diversity of plant life leads to a diversity of wildlife.)

Family-friendly Safaris in the Eastern Cape

Eastern Cape Game reserves - family friendly Riverdene

Many Eastern cape lodges specialize in family safaris, with shorter game drives for young children, kids’ activity centres, and fun educational excursions. Combined with the malaria-free status, this makes the Eastern Cape our top safari destination for younger families.

Best Time for an Eastern Cape safari?

The Eastern Cape is in the transitional climate zone. What this means in practical terms is that the summer rains are not as pronounced as in the Kruger so game-viewing is more consisitent there in the Green season of December to March. However the full-on winter months of June and July can see very cold nights and early mornings.
