Our Namibian Adventure Luxury Self-Drive (14 nights) combines the freedom of independent travel with the comfort of handpicked luxury and premier lodges. It’s the perfect introduction for first-time visitors, offering a comprehensive sweep of Namibia’s landscapes: the wildlife-rich Etosha National Park, the sculpted valleys of Damaraland, Swakopmund’s coastal charm, the iconic dunes of Sossusvlei, and the wide red sands of the Kalahari.
Unlike a typical self-drive, this itinerary blends independence with some guided highlights, including leopard tracking & game drives at Okonjima, searching for desert-adapted elephants at Mowani Mountain Lodge, and a guided Sossusvlei dunes trip.
You’ll travel at your own pace in a comfortable SUV, stopping where and when you wish, but you also benefit from expert-led activities at key points. With upgrade options at several destinations, you can tailor the level of luxury to your preferences.
Namibian Adventure Luxury Self drive in Namibia (14 nights) – at a Glance
- On arrival, collect your Group R (SUV) rental car and drive to your hotel – The Weinberg, Bed & Breakfast
- Head north to the central highlands to overnight at Okonjima Plains Camp, Dinner, Bed & Breakfast with Activities. Upgrade Option: Okonjima Luxury Bush Camp (Full Board & Activities)
- 3 nights Mushara Outpost, Eastern Etosha National Park, Dinner, Bed & Breakfast. Upgrade Option: Onguma The Fort (DBB)
- 1 night Etosha Safari Lodge on the southern side of Etosha Dinner, Bed & Breakfast. Upgrade Option: Etosha Oberland Lodge (DBB)

Accommodation is a mix of Premier & Luxury accommodation. But we have also added an Upgrade option at selected destinations to have Luxury accommodation all the way. You can also opt to pick and mix.
Good to Know
- It would be easy to add in extra nights to this self-drive tour, perhaps spending a second night at Okonjima, or head south to Luderitz and the Fish River Canyon. (Allow at least 4 nights extra for that.)
- Or β if budget allows, we strongly recommend having 1-2 nights in the Sossusvlei area, and then spending two nights in the Namib Rand Nature Reserve Desert at Wolwedans or Kwessi Dunes Lodge.
- If you need to shorten it, that’s a little more difficult. But it can be shortened to 13 (or 12) nights without removing the essential routing. But you have less time to relax and really soak up the ambience.
- We also recommend taking at least 1 or 2 guided game drive when in Etosha.
