Author name: Ginny Russell

Co-founder and UK MD First seduced by an African sunset over 25 years ago, Ginny was easily persuaded by her sister Kate to join her in founding Cedarberg Africa back in 1995. This was not long after South Africa's first democratic elections and the country saw very few overseas visitors. Having been less than impressed by the travel company with whom she travelled back in the 80s (Spam sandwiches in mouldy bread, anyone?), she was convinced that there was a better way to craft holidays around individuals - and that she was the person for the job! She combines frequent research trips with her twin passion - talking about the places she loves! She is a strong advocate of travel at a more relaxed pace and her exacting standards make her ideally qualified to head the UK office. Ginny has travelled to Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Zambia, Namibia, Madagascar, Mozambique, Seychelles, Mauritius, Botswana, Zimbabwe and, of course, throughout South Africa. She studied English at Reading followed by an MBA at Kingston. Her favourite places are an eclectic mix, ranging from places where she has rubbed shoulders (in blissful ignorance) with celebrities to paraffin-lit rondavels. She believes in taking her own medicine too; like several of our clients, she and her husband married under African Skies.
