Safari Description

The journey begins along the Zambezi River at Old Drift Lodge, ideally positioned for both exploring Victoria Falls and its surrounding wilderness. From here, you enjoy a varied mix of activities: guided visits to the Falls, tranquil canoeing and boating on the Zambezi, and game drives and walking safaris in Zambezi National Park. It’s an elegant and immersive introduction to Zimbabwe.

From Victoria Falls, you fly south to Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe’s premier big-game destination. Your first three nights are spent at Nehimba Safari Camp, set in a productive north-western sector of the park. This region is known for excellent wildlife sightings and a strong sense of remoteness.

A highlight of the safari follows as you travel by road through the park and then journey deeper into southern Hwange aboard the Elephant Express railcar, a wonderfully nostalgic and uniquely Zimbabwean experience. Game viewing unfolds along the way as you travel by rail all the way to Bomani Tented Camp in the southern part of the park.

Your final three nights at Bomani combine superb game viewing with meaningful conservation and community encounters. The lodge is renowned for its rhino conservation project, exceptional elephant photographic hide, and opportunities to visit nearby village initiatives — offering a deeper connection to both people and place.

Personalise to Suit You

This safari can be reversed to end at Victoria Falls or shorten if time is limited (though the itinerary currently includes a complimentary night on safari).

Adding Jozibanini Camp – if you have more time, the itinerary can be extended to include

Jozibanini Camp, a remote and adventurous area of Hwange famed for its large elephant herds. We show the price for adding 2 nights here to make an 11-night itinerary.

(Jozibanini can also be substituted for Nehimba Camp while retaining the nine-night structure, if you prefer.)

• The Elephant Express rail safari operates seasonally and is unavailable from January to March
• During this period, flights between Hwange camps offer a seamless alternative for a similar cost. And can be substituted at any time of the year to suit your preferences.
