Zeederberg Trail self-drive (add on to a safari)
7 Nights

Overview
This Zeederberg Trail self-drive tour allows you to head off the well-trodden paths and explore a quieter, beautiful part of South Africa. And enjoy the Greater Kruger Park as well. We have changed this tour to be a shorter 7 night self-drive which can be ADDED onto a stay in Cape Town and/or a stay at one of the private game lodges of the Kruger.
It is designed to show you a more remote and beautiful part of South Africa and into the Tuli Block of southern Botswana. So it is the perfect complement to the magnificent Kruger Park. You are on tarred roads for all of the trip. Yet you travel through some of the most remote and authentic parts of South Africa combining a superb, varied safari experience with wonderful scenery and food.
We suggest that you start after your Kruger safari (at a lodge of your choice.) You first visit the scenic highlands of the Blyde River Canyon and Kruger Escarpment. Then continue onto equally scenic Tzaneen uplands.
From there you enjoy two nights at the scenic game reserve of the Leshiba Wilderness for a safari and cultural experience. Finally you head, perhaps via Mapungubwe to Mashatu Game Reserve for 3 nights of rugged game viewing with adventurous safari options available. (bush walks and mountain biking.)
Zeederberg Trail Self Drive at a Glance:
- 1 night Rissington Inn or Upgrade to Tanamera, Panorama Escarpment, Bed & Breakfast
- 1 night Kings Walden Garden Manor, Tzaneen region, Bed & Breakfast
- 2 nights Leshiba Wilderness, Luxury Suite, Full Board & Activities

- Return to Johannesburg. Or choose to extend your stay in the Waterberg region....
Tailor-made options
If you have less time (6 nights) you could cut out a night, if you wish. You could skip the night in the Drakensberg escarpment area, or reduce Mashatu to only 2 nights.
If you have more time, we recommend adding a night or two en route back from Mashatu in the Waterberg region. You can stay at a game lodge in the Waterberg region for a couple of nights for a contrasting safari experience.
Finally we recommend adding it to 3-4 nights in Cape Town and 3 nights on safari in the Kruger Game Reserves to make a 13 to 14 night itinerary.
Note: We have changed this to a $ price as the majority of the tour (cost-wise is in Botswana which uses $dollars for tourism).
