Safari Description
Begin in Cape Town, where there is time to soak up the city’s natural beauty, food scene and cultural highlights before heading along the coast to Hermanus. From here, continue into the heart of the Garden Route and the Tsitsikamma area, where forests, fynbos and ocean views create a striking change of scene.
You then head to inland the game-rich landscapes of the Eastern Cape. Enjoy two contrasting safari stays, each offering its own style of wildlife experience, with historic Graaff-Reinet and the wide-open spaces of Samara.
The return meander takes you through the Little Karoo, Swellendam and Franschhoek, ending with fine food, wine and mountain scenery in the Cape Winelands.
This is a beautifully varied itinerary for those who want to experience the Cape in depth, blending boutique stays, scenic drives, relaxed exploration and memorable safari moments.
Personalise to Suit You
As with all of our sample safaris, this itinerary is designed as inspiration and can be tailored around your interests, timeframe and preferred style of travel.
If you are short on time, or want to reduce the overall cost, the Samara safari stay can easily be removed. Equally, accommodation throughout can be upgraded for an even more refined experience.
Good to Know
- This itinerary is best suited to travellers who enjoy the freedom of the open road and want to explore the Cape in depth at a comfortable pace.
- It is one of the more premium self-drive journeys in our collection, largely due to its length and the inclusion of two safari lodges.
