Begin with a road journey from Maun to Mogogelo Safari Lodge, set within a private concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve. This locally owned camp offers a relaxed introduction to the Botswana wilderness, with just ten tented rooms overlooking the surrounding bush and waterhole. Days centre around guided game drives, while evenings invite you to gather beside the campfire or enjoy the views from the pool deck.
From Mogogelo, take to the skies by helicopter for a memorable flight across northern Botswana to Camp Khwai. The aerial journey offers a wonderful perspective on the channels, floodplains and islands that shape the greater Okavango region.
Camp Khwai occupies a scenic position beside the permanent Khwai River, looking towards the Moremi Game Reserve. Small, locally owned and informal, the camp has just seven tents, including a larger unit suited to families or groups. Private balconies overlook the wetlands, where elephants, antelope and abundant birdlife may be seen moving along the river.
Your three-night stay in Khwai introduces another dimension to the safari. Alongside game drives, activities may include mokoro excursions through the waterways, short guided bush walks and cultural visits. This combination of land and water-based exploration reveals the remarkable variety of the Khwai landscape. Activities remain subject to water levels, seasonal conditions and wildlife movements.
The journey then continues by light aircraft to Kasane, followed by a short road transfer to Jackalberry Chobe on the banks of the Chobe River. The lodgeβs spacious tented suites have private balconies, air conditioning and generous en-suite bathrooms, providing a comfortable final chapter to the safari.
Chobe National Park is renowned for its riverfront wildlife, particularly its large elephant and buffalo herds. Morning game drives explore Chobe National Park, while afternoon boat cruises offer the chance to watch animals gathering at the waterβs edge as the sun sinks over the river. Back at the lodge, you can relax beside the infinity pool or enjoy dinner beneath the stars.
