The Freedom of Your Own Private Safari House

Private bush villas, also known colloquially as Safari Houses in Africa, offer one of the most flexible ways to enjoy an African safari. These properties are taken on an exclusive use basis by one party, giving you all the comforts of a luxury safari lodge with the privacy and freedom of your own home in the bush. These villas in the bush have their own game ranger and private vehicle for your game drives, plus a private chef and full staff complement.

The beauty of this is that you can set your own pace, whether that's an early morning game drive, a leisurely breakfast or an afternoon spent relaxing by the pool. There's no need to fit around other guests' schedules.

This flexibility makes private safari houses in Africa particularly appealing for family safaris, especially when travelling with younger children or several generations.

This accommodation set-up leads to a much more relaxed and flexible family safari. No constant worrying about noise levels and no self-consciousness about an impromptu ball game on the lawn.

Some private safari houses in Africa are totally alone. Whilst others are part of a larger camp, but set away. The latter can offer the best of both worlds: enjoy a drink at the main lodge's bar, book a spa treatment or simply spend the day in your own private space.

Where Can You Find Private Safari Houses in Africa?

Private safari houses can be found across many of Southern and East Africa's most rewarding wildlife regions. From the private game reserves of South Africa and Botswana to the remote wilderness areas of Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Tanzania, there is an excellent range of exclusive-use safari accommodation to choose from.

The options vary considerably, from intimate two-bedroom bush villas to expansive private homesteads designed for larger families and groups of friends. Some offer all the facilities of a luxury safari lodge, while others focus on a more intimate, traditional bush experience.

The trick is finding the right safari house for your group. Location, group size, children's ages and the level of privacy you want all play a part. That's where our first-hand knowledge of the different properties can help you narrow down the choices.
