Each country is so different, that there are always new places to find and enjoy within Africa.
Tips
- Tell us where you have been before in Africa. What you liked about it and what you didn’t like. This is so helpful for us.
- But don’t expect to have the same experience in two completely different countries. Some countries may offer authentic encounters with rural-based tribal communities. But another country may be much more Westernised.

The East African safari powerhouses also offer a complete contrast, with several wildlife regions which are easy to combine and of couse the lure of the great wildebeest migration.
Some Destinations for 2nd and 3rd time visitors to South Africa
The Cederberg Mountains (only 2½ hours north of Cape Town) offer a complete contrast to the rest of the Western Cape, far more rugged with a true sense of wilderness. A large area which can be a safari trip all by itself is the beautiful province of KwaZulu Natal. Another area we love are the interior areas of the Eastern and Western Cape.

Destinations for 2nd and 3rd time visitors to East Africa
Within both Kenya and Tanzania, there are lesser visited areas, far from the hoards of 1st-timers.
Or why not consider gorilla trekking in either Rwanda or Uganda. Uganda in particular offers great opportunities to combine gorilla trekking with other game-viewing.
More far-flung Countries
Similarly Malawi is a charming destination for experienced visitors, especially when combined with Zambia for top-notch game-viewing.
Finally – for something COMPLETELY different – think Madagascar. A country like no other with amazing unique wildlife and flora in terms of lemurs, frogs, insects and orchids. With stunning beaches for post safari relaxation.
Enjoyed a Self-drive in South Africa?
There are only two countries where we really recommend a self-drive road trip. South Africa and Namibia.
Namibia is a great destination for a self-drive trip as its attraction is as much the amazing scenery as much as the wildlife, something you may miss on a fly-in safari.

Different Mode of Safari Travel
However for the more adventurous safari visitor, especially if it’s a second or third safari, there’s nothing to beat a more leisurely mode of safari travel. Such as on foot, on horseback, by canoe or by boat.
