Royal Malewane Game Lodge is set in the exclusive 11,500 ha Thornybush Private Game Reserve of the Greater Kruger Park. It offers a winning combination of superb guiding and game-viewing, sophisticated colonial elegance and style and an award-winning spa. Accommodation

Elevated walkways link six private suites, each surrounded by its own spacious deck with a private plunge pool shaded by trees, with a delightful thatched sala for afternoon siestas. Each suite has a large air-conditioned bedroom/sitting room with open fireplace, minibar and antique canopy king size bed. The extravagant bathroom is full of light, the epitome of indulgence with a Victorian bath and indoor & outdoor showers.

Two presidential suites (a massive 510sqm each) - the Royal Suite and the Malewane Suite - offer the height of luxury with two en suite bedrooms and acres of room for relaxing with a massive sitting/dining area and an expansive deck with private pool. The décor is classic colonial bush style, brimming with old world elegance. Wonderful antiques, paintings and curios are richly evocative of a leisured and luxurious past. Each suite comes with its own private butler and chef, masseuse and private ranger and vehicle. (Two extra beds can be placed in the suites to accommodate families up to six).

Facilities at Royal Malewane

Royal Malewane comprises a library, dining and reception area, all furnished with interesting African and eastern artefacts. Accompanied by highly skilled game rangers and trackers, you are taken on early-morning and evening game drives in search of the Big Five and other wildlife. Royal Malewane have an expert ranger and master tracker (one of only two in South Africa). With a staff to guest ratio of more than 1 to 1, Royal Malewane offers personal service of the highest order.

The stylish Malewane Spa is set a little away from the main lodge with relaxation salas, treatment rooms, gym, Turkish baths and sauna. The center piece is an elongated swimming pool, ideal if you fancy doing a little bit of exercise to work off their delicious food. Alternatively you may relax with a treatment in the privacy of your own suite. We strongly recommend that you pre-book any treatment at the Malewane Spa to avoid disappointment.

At Royal Malewane the day begins with an early morning game drive where rangers aim to both inform and enthrall you. This is followed by a leisurely breakfast and then you can enjoy the luxury of the camp before lunch is served. An afternoon game drive and sundowners is followed by a sumptuous high tea, culminating in a night drive in search of exciting nocturnal game. Royal Malewane offer amazing Bedouin-style bush dinners under the African stars.

Africa House - Exclusive Private Villa

Filled with colour and character, Africa House lies only a few minutes’ drive away. It accommodates up to 12 people in complete splendour - the perfect child-friendly bush paradise for families or friends. Enter the imposing North African front door and feel the calm of the central courtyard with its cooling fountain, twin casitas and spacious covered veranda. Generous living and dining areas in the safari villa lead onto another covered veranda where you can relax on the day beds, swim in the pool and enjoy leisurely meals in a magical bush setting. Africa House comes with a private chef, butler, ranger, tracker and game drive vehicle, as well as its own Boma for starlit dinners around the campfire.
