Overview

Mbuzi Mawe Camp offers a timeless blend of classical safari rusticity and the world-class professionalism of Serena Lodges. Set amid rocky outcrops or 'kopjes' as they are called locally, which are geological features of the Serengeti, Mbuzi Mawe Serena Camp is in the heart of the Serengeti National Reserve. It is situated half way between Seronera and Lobo, in a low use area of the park.

Guarded by 3 million year old granite towers, Mbuzi Mawe, meaning Klipspringer, makes great use of its unique wilderness location. There are al fresco breakfasts, safari lunches, lantern-lit bush suppers, campfire roasts, and dance displays by the local Ikoma people as well as game drives, ranger-led bush walks, great ornithology and sightings of: elephant, lion, cheetah, leopard, buffalo, hyena, wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, warthog, hippo and crocodile.

Camp Location

The camp is situated in a prime area of the Serengeti within easy reach of the top wildlife 'theatres' of Lobo, the Western Corridor of the Grumeti River, the southern grass plains and the Seronera Valley. There are also the kopjes, or inselbergs, of Barafu, Gol, Maasai, Loliondo, Simba and Moru. Mbuzi Mawe Serena Camp has the most fantastic location on one of the main annual migration corridors for over one million wildebeest, half a million zebras and gazelles and their accompanying cast of predators. This classic safari camp in the Serengeti allows you to view one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth - the migration.
