The Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel is the Grande Dame of Cape Town... Elegant and gracious - the epitome of refined style and glamour right in the heart of Cape Town. This timeless hotel is set in 9 acres of landscaped gardens. And yet is only walking distance from the Company Gardens, the SA Museum and Art Gallery as well as the restaurants and bars in vibey Kloof Street. The setting is the perfect combination of leafy tranquility and contemporary buzz.

The Mount Nelson Hotel was opened at the turn of the 19th century. With the intention of emulating the finest hotels in London and Paris. For years the rich and refined would arrive in Cape Town by steamer ship to spend a few weeks enjoying Cape Town society and staying at the Mount Nelson. The hotel was painted bright pink after the second world war so as to cheer up the returning troops and it has remained that colour ever since.
Accommodation
The 198 air-conditioned luxury bedrooms and suites are set in seven individual buildings and wings. Each with a slightly different style and ambience. The superior rooms are spacious and supremely comfortable with luxurious bathrooms, air-conditioning, writing desk, television, telephone and minibar. The larger rooms and suites are spacious some with separate lounge.
The Mount Nelson Hotel exudes a sense of space. With its extensive gardens complete with two large heated swimming pools (one reserved for adults), floodlit tennis courts and a large Spa and Fitness centre - one of Cape Town's best. The spa has ten treatment rooms and is open late into the evening so that you can enjoy a treatment after a day of sight-seeing.
Families at Mount Nelson Hotel
Families are particularly welcome at the Mount Nelson Hotel. They have a dedicated Children's Activity Centre catering for young children through to teenagers. There are ample child minders on offer and a Holiday Club during the peak Christmas season. The children's swimming pool has a lifeguard on duty.
The Restaurants
The Mount Nelson Hotel successfully moved with the times with its acclaimed Planet Bar, champagne and cocktail bar and an excellent restaurants. However some traditions are worth preserving. And that includes its sumptuous traditional Afternoon Tea. Taken in the conservatory or on the terrace, which is not to be missed during your stay. (Tip - go light on lunch that day!) In the evening choose between the acclaimed Cape Colony restaurant, or the more informal Oasis restaurant offering Mediterranean dishes in a convivial and relaxed setting.

Superior Room

Located in the Main Building, the Oasis Wing and Green Park, each Deluxe Room has a unique design and personality. Some rooms offer a balcony, while all enjoy an inviting marble en-suite bathroom.
Junior Suite
For guests requiring more spacious accommodation, Junior Suites offer a bedroom with an open-plan sitting area. Located in the Main Building and Green Park areas of the hotel, some Junior Suites benefit from an inviting balcony.
Deluxe Junior Suite
Light and airy, Deluxe Junior Suites are found in the Main Building and Green Park wings. They include a spacious bedroom and an inviting open-plan sitting area. Large windows let the outside in, while most have balconies where you can unwind.
Studio Suites
Studio Suites enjoy an open plan design, featuring a spacious bedroom and lounge area. They are situated in the Green Park, Helmsley and Taunton House areas of the hotel. Each is appointed with a luxurious marble bathroom, while some also feature a balcony.
Deluxe Studio Suites
Deluxe Studio Suites are found in the Green Park and Helmsley areas of the hotel. They’re a perfect choice for families travelling with children, as the added space allows for a cot or extra bed if required.
One Bedroom Suites
These suites feature spacious bedrooms and a large separate, open-plan lounge area. Many offer an inviting balcony, while some also benefit from a personal wet bar. One Bedroom Suites are found in the Main Building, Helmsley, Hof Villa and Taunton House areas of the hotel.

Deluxe One Bedroom Suites are found in the Main Building, Green Park, Helmsley, Hof Villa and Taunton House areas of the hotel.
They offer a true taste of grand living. Each boasts a separate bedroom, large lounge and dining area with Nespresso coffee machines. Some have balconies or a guest cloakroom.
Each is luxuriously appointed and individually designed, and some enjoy a walk-in dressing room. Some of these suites have a kitchenette and a wet bar, while all feature marble bathrooms with a walk-in dressing room.
Garden Cottage Suites
A row of eight restored, historic cottages, adjacent to the secluded pool, make up the Garden Cottage Suites.
A luxurious home away from home, each cottage sits behind a scented rose garden, enclosed by a picket fence, ensuring a haven of peace and privacy.

These magnificently furnished suites have an entrance hall, a large lounge with a fireplace and a dining room. The suite will either have its own private terrace or a balcony overlooking the pool and garden.
Presidential Suite
The luxurious Presidential Suite encompasses a stylish marbled entrance hall, a private dining room, master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a large lounge leading onto a balcony with stunning views of Table Mountain. There is also a wet bar, complete with a microwave, stove, sink and kitchen utensils.
