Overview
Mhondoro Safari Lodge & Villa is a luxurious, 5 star Safari Lodge and Villa situated within the malaria-free Welgevonden Game Reserve in the Waterberg area of South Africa. The lodge and exclusive use villa were extensively rebuilt in 2015, following a devastating fire.
The style of the whole Lodge is an elegant mélange of chic African and contemporary European design.
Activities
Enjoy abundant wildlife on guided game drives. The Welgevonden Game Reserve’s strict policy limiting the number of vehicles on the Reserve, enhances the exclusive and peaceful drives.
The sophisticated yet child-friendly lodge is rapidly becoming known for its underground waterhole hide, which connects to the lodge via a tunnel. This unique feature offers an accessible, safe and one-of-a-kind opportunity to get up close to the animals drinking at the lodge's waterhole.
Back at the lodge, there's a Spa and Wellness suite offering treatments to help you unwind. Or perhaps enjoy a bracing workout at the fully equipped gym. Whilst the heated pool, sauna, bar and lounge areas add to the sense of relaxation.
Outside there's also a star deck. The elevated wooden star deck has custom-made seating, with seatbacks angled at 45 degrees to allow for comfortable star-spotting. Our high-powered telescope is linked to a sophisticated computer programme that enhances a thrillingly detailed search of the cosmos.
Mhondoro is very family friendly in a non-malarial area. Kids of 6 upwards can join the adult game drive. But ‘Kids Bumble Drives’ can be arranged (at an additional cost) for parents and younge kids
Accommodation wise, it offers two options. The two bedroom family suite has a shared bathroom, living area and dining area. Whilst the Executive suites have two en suite bedrooms. The latter are ideal for families or two couples travelling together. There's a shared lounge with fireplace and a spacious private deck.
Mhondoro offers a Kiddie’s programme for children. Children receive a Kids Activity Pack, including an activity booklet. They also offer Kiddie’s insect walks, animal track moulding with plaster of paris, track and sign ID, clay animal sculpture making, archery for older children, star gazing and cookie baking & decorating with the pastry chef.
The Kids play area is an enclosed fenced area with a jungle gym, swings, trampoline and sandpit. For older children or on rainy days, there is a (soundproof) playroom downstairs inside the main lodge with board games, puzzles, PlayStation, an air Hockey machine and plenty of toys to keep them entertained. Child-minding is also on offer.
The Villa at Mhondoro
The Mhondoro Villa is perfectly suited as an exclusive family villa. Here you have your own private game vehicle with ranger, private chef, private butler and staff so you are separate from the main lodge. There's also a private pool, private gym and yoga room. The Mhondoro Villa boasts a magnificent master suite and two additional bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms.

The Deluxe Suite accommodates two. The building has one bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and a private viewing deck. It’s a perfectly secluded hideaway, with all facilities of the Main Lodge within short walking distance.

The Family Suite accommodates four guests. It has two bedrooms and because of its shared bathroom, dining area and living area, it’s the perfect accommodation for families. The spacious private viewing deck overlooks the bush. The Family Suite is in a separate building, yet with all facilities of the Main Lodge within short walking distance.

The Executive Suite accommodates four guests, and has two bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms. You’ll find an extra lounge area with a fireplace and a spacious private viewing deck overlooking the waterhole. It’s an opulent retreat with all the facilities of the Main Lodge within short walking distance.
HONEYMOON SUITE - SLEEPS 2
The Honeymoon Suite offers a perfect romantic getaway. Accommodating a couple in luxury, the intimate building boasts a spacious bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. Its uniqueness is in its private viewing deck and its own spa pool and daybed overlooking the reserve. It is located furthest away from the Lodge, providing a very secluded and private feel while making it the perfect spot to raise a glass of champagne and enjoy the uninterrupted view of the wilderness and animals or to watch the stars at night.
3 BEDROOM VILLA - SLEEPS 6
The Mhondoro Villa is perfectly suited as an exclusive family or group accommodation where you are looked after from beginning to end. The exclusivity of the Mhondoro Villa means that all meals and selected local drinks, a private pool, a private gym and yoga room, a private game view with ranger, a private chef, a private butler and housekeeping staff, are all included. The Mhondoro Villa is booked at a fixed price for one to four guests. Additional guests are charged per the specified surcharge per season. The Mhondoro Villa boasts a magnificent master suite and two additional bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms.
