Overview
Tarangire * Ngorongoro Crater * Serengeti * Zanzibar *
Migration Paths & Crater is an inspired introduction to Tanzania’s most iconic safari regions, combining well-paced road journeys with a private guide with strategic flights into the Serengeti. Designed as a luxury safari from start to finish, it moves through Tarangire, the Ngorongoro Highlands and Crater, and then the Serengeti;  showcasing the dramatic shifts in landscape and wildlife that define northern Tanzania. For most of the year you will also be able to witness the ceaseless movements of big game animals as they roam across the African plains.
The Migration Paths and Crater gives you the best of all worlds. You see the countryside without the stop-start of flying, but use flights to get to the northern reaches of the Serengeti. We show the price with, and without, an optional extension to Zanzibar.

Safari Description
Beginning in Arusha, you travel by road to the lesser-explored Tarangire National Park, where vast elephant herds, giant baobab-studded plains and seasonal migrations of wildebeest and zebra dominate the scene. The rich ecosystem of Tarangire supports one of the highest densities of zebra, wildebeest and gemsbok as well as the largest population of elephants in northern Tanzania, now numbering close to 2,500. Â Road transfers here allow you to appreciate the changing countryside at an unhurried pace.
From Tarangire, the journey ascends into the cool, green Ngorongoro highlands. This tranquil region offers a striking contrast to the wildlife-rich Ngorongoro Crater below, where game viewing is among the most concentrated in Africa. Descending onto the crater floor delivers a thrilling shift in tempo;  from peaceful highland forests to one of the continent’s most extraordinary natural arenas for game.
The safari concludes in the Serengeti National Park, reached by light aircraft from Lake Manyara. Here, vast open plains stretch to the horizon, allowing wildlife to roam freely in response to the seasonal rains. Depending on the time of year, your stay is positioned to maximise encounters with the Great Migration, one of nature’s most compelling spectacles.
