Arusha * Tarangire * Lake Manyara * Serengeti * Ngorongoro Crater
This is a moderately priced northern Tanzania safari visiting the four main game reserves of Tanzania over eight days: Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara, Olduvai Gorge en route to the Serengeti, and ending with the Ngorongoro Crater. But the highlight will probably be the romantic and game-filled plains of the SerengetiΒ where you can see the constant cycle of the wildebeest migration. It uses individual lodges and it can be done on both a private basis (shown here) or scheduled basis in a small group context.
Safari Description
This itinerary departs from Kilimanjaro International Airport (7 nights). But you can also depart and return to Arusha, if that suits your flight and other arrangements better, with a 6 night version. We have shown the price for a private safari with 2 people.Β
If there are 4 people on the private tour, it is less expensive. You can also opt for a scheduled tour “seat in vehicle’ option which is perfect for solo travellers, or couples on a budget. This is a little more expensive than the price with 4 people ($50 pp more approx). Contact us for a price.
Tanzania Discovery is a safari by road with no light aircraft flights.Β So it is popular with guests who are not fond of small planes. You travel in a comfortable 4WD safari vehicle with an experienced English-speaking Tanzanian guide. Much of the travel between various locations is scenic or interesting (or both) so the journey is very much part of the safari, especially between the Ngorongoro highlands and the Serengeti. We also think that a road safari gives you a great sense of Tanzania. The group comprises a maximum of 7 guests.
A full driving tour does mean quite a lot of time travelling in a vehicle. If you are happy to pay a little more, we recommend our Taste of Tasted Tanzania. This is a private tour but the price is not that much more if you are 4 or more people. And you FLY back from the Serengeti so there is less driving overall.
Our Upgrade option is also a private tour but uses smarter (and more exclusive) accommodation with Wellworth Hotels and Lodges. Personally we think this is well worth the upgrade price.
If you wish to add on Zanzibar, we may recommend opting for the 6 night version of this itinerary which starts and ends in Arusha. As several charter companies fly from Arusha to Zanzibar on a daily basis. You can add a night in Arusha at the end and then we can arrange a Zanzibar beach stay for a few nights.
This is a sample itinerary using specific hotels and lodges. However most of these sample tours can be adapted to suit you. If applicable, it includes domestic seat-in-charter flights. But it excludes any regional and domestic scheduled flights (as these are subject to change and specific routing). These are added to a specific quotation once we have your dates.
