This South Africa Safari & Beach journey blends three of the country’s greatest pleasures: the culture, vibe and scenery of Cape Town, the wildlife-rich reserves of KwaZulu-Natal, and the pristine shores of the remote Maputaland coast. Designed for honeymooners and relaxed explorers alike, it offers a delightful balance of city energy, immersive safari, and barefoot beach time.

Begin with four nights in Cape Town, a perennial favourite among the world’s most loved cities. (Voted one the best cities to visit in the world). Explore its iconic coastline, vineyards, mountains, and vibrant neighbourhoods at your own pace. Fly onward to KwaZulu-Natal for an enriching Big Five safari experience. Whether you choose the Premier or Luxury option, you’ll enjoy excellent wildlife viewing, warm hospitality, and the distinctive landscapes for which this region is known.
Your final three nights take you to the Maputaland coast, where soft white sands, lush dune forests, and crystalline waters set the tone for deep relaxation. Enjoy snorkelling and diving, or venture inland for sunrise canoeing on Lake Sibaya and tranquil sundowners on its shore.
Two versions of this itinerary are offered:
- Premier Option (base price below): a well-positioned four-star hotel in Cape Town, an excellent safari lodge in KwaZulu Natal, and a Forest Suite at Thonga Beach Lodge.
- Luxury Option: a five-star hotel in Cape Town on the Atlantic ocean, one of the top KwaZulu-Natal safari lodges, and an Ocean Suite at Thonga Beach Lodge.
Small adjustments can be made to suit your travel preferences, including adding a night on safari or at the beach, or switching to White Pearl Resorts in southern Mozambique for a more resort-style finale.
Tailor-Made this Safari & Beach itinerary
As with all Cedarberg sample itineraries, you can customise this safari trip. Perhaps add 1-2 nights on safari and/or at the beach if you have time? (Some adaptions can also be made if you need to bring down the price a little).
We’ve kept Cape Town open of touring so that you can add what suits you. There’s a diverse range of private tours, active tours and excursions. Plus the option of taking a rental car for a couple of day if you prefer more independence.
There is also the option to fly back from Thonga Beach Lodge to Durban (though this seat-in-charter flight is relatively expensive.)
