Your safari begins with three unforgettable nights in the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve, where expert rangers bring the Big Five to life through child-friendly game drives and engaging wildlife experiences. Then it’s on to Cape Town, where you’ll have time to explore the city’s iconic sights, from Table Mountain to the V&A Waterfront, with the freedom to tailor activities to your family’s pace.

Finally, unwind on the Whale Coast at Mosaic Lagoon Lodge, a haven of natural beauty and adventure. Kayak on the lagoon, head out on a beach picnic, or simply soak up the scenery.

Day to Day Itinerary

On arrival in South Africa, you transfer to the Federal Air terminal for your charter flight to the Madikwe Game Reserve. On arrival, you are met and transferred to Impodimo Game Lodge for three nights on safari. Impodimo Game Lodge is set on a rocky ridge overlooking the vistas within the magnificent malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve of the northwest province of South Africa.

Children of all ages are very welcome and younger children are specially catered for with special kid’s game drives.

Start the day with an early morning game drive, accompanied by a professional ranger and tracker. In the late afternoon, return to the bush for a sundowner safari, followed by the chance to look for nocturnal wildlife after dark.

Guests can also join an armed ranger for a guided bush walk, learning about animal tracks, trees, birds and the surrounding landscape.

After a final game drive, you take a road transfer back to Johannesburg (approx 4 hours) in time for your flight to Cape Town. On arrival you are met and transferred to the African Elite Waterfront Apartments for four nights.

Optional private tours with one of our family specialist guides can also be arranged, or car rental, whichever you prefer. (Not included at this stage.)

African Elite Waterfront Apartments are a collection of luxury, fully serviced apartments in the V&A Waterfront marina. All the apartments are located within walking distance of the restaurants, shops and attractions of the V&A Waterfront. All the Waterfront apartments are individually decorated and offer the comfort of a luxury hotel with all the space, freedom and flexibility of home. You can eat out or you can cook something light, you can wear whatever you want and have breakfast when you feel like it. The extra space is great for families who like to spread themselves out a bit and yet it’s serviced daily. The price is based on a two bedroom luxury apartment.

Transfer via the scenic coastal road to EITHER Mosaic Lagoon Lodge or Grootbos Private Nature Reserve for three nights.

Mosaic Lagoon Lodge on Mosaic Private Sanctuary is an enchanting lodge in an ancient milkwood grove on the edge of Hermanus lagoon. Lagoon Lodge, has a spectacular setting with views overlooking a bird sanctuary and lake towards the beautiful Overberg Mountains. The six shady, spacious en-suite stone and thatch chalets are built on the lagoon’s edge. One is a large family chalet which can sleep two adults and two children.

Activities include beach excursions, nature walks, boat cruise on the lagoon, quad biking, canoeing as well as transfers to nearby Gansbaai for whale watrching and shark cage diving (excurson itself is at extra cost).

Upgrade Option:

Grootbos Garden Lodge, located amidst the spectacular fynbos and ancient dunes, is a real gem. A nature-lovers paradise – all but the most committed urbanite will enjoy the 4×4 game drives, nature walks and horse riding, as well as beach visits and escorted whale watching trips.

Eleven cottages each offer a separate lounge, and one or two bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. All have private wooden decks with panoramic sea and mountain views. Facilities include filter coffee machines, well-stocked mini-bar, daily fruit basket, indigenous fynbos flower arrangements and fireplace. This tour price is based on a one bedroom cottage with sofa bed suitable for two children in the sitting room. Contact us for a quote with a two bedroom cottage ideal for older children or families with 3 or more children.

After a final activity, you are transferred back to Cape Town Airport in time for your onward arrangements.
