Overview

Sandringham Game Reserve is a luxurious safari retreat perched on a hillside overlooking the Timbavati River and dam, offering sweeping views of the surrounding bush and distant Drakensberg Mountains. This wild landscape sets the tone for a safari experience where adventure and contemporary luxury meet.

Sandringham Private Game Reserve offers an immersive safari experience focused on wildlife, conservation, and connection to nature. It lies adjacent to both the Timbavati Game Reserve and Thornybush Game Reserves in the Greater Kruger.

Designed to blend seamlessly with the landscape, the property offers a sophisticated yet grounded safari retreat with a strong emphasis on comfort, design, and sustainability. Sandringham Game Reserve comprises of two ‘camps’ – N’Weti and Shisaka – which share a common main lodge. So it is really a matter of choosing the style of accommodation which you prefer.

The central main lodge serves as the heart of the property, with indoor and outdoor dining areas, an extensive wine cellar, expansive decks, a traditional boma for fireside dinners, and relaxed lounge spaces overlooking the bush.

Wellness facilities include a tranquil spa, a fully equipped gym, and quiet areas for reflection, while additional features such as a library, a boutique, and an educational centre enhance your experience.

Activities

You enjoy guided game drives across the reserve and its surrounding ecosystems, observing animals in a setting where they are regaining trust in humans. The unfenced environment allows for close encounters and an authentic bush experience, complemented by time spent relaxing at camp, enjoying sundowners, or gathering around the fire in the boma under the stars. Bush walks are also on offer.

Accommodation at Sandringham Private Game Reserve

The two camps: N’weti and Shisaka, are actually two sides of one larger lodge so that you can choose between 6 tented suites (N’wweti) or 6 stone chalets and two family villas (Shisaka), depending on your preference.Β  But the accommodation is very similar in layout and the quality of the facilities.

The two family villas are similar in style but share a central living area with two bedrooms; one master bedroom with larger bathroom and dressing area, and a second bedroom with a smaller bathroom.

The interiors draw inspiration from the nearby river, with calming tones of blue and grey complemented by cool polished screed floors and natural textures. Each suite opens onto a shaded timber deck , where a private infinity pool looks out to the lake and the distant Drakensberg Mountains.
