Highlights of Tanzania

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport by scheduled flight (booked by agent or on own arrangements).  You clear customs and immigration formalities and are met outside opposite the Arrivals Hall by our Ranger Safaris representative.  They will assist you to your transfer vehicle for your transfer to the hotel.

Following breakfast and your safari briefing, you depart by private 4×4 safari vehicle to Tarangire National Park.  Once you pass the park gate, you game view en route to the lodge arriving for lunch.   Following lunch and a chance to enjoy the lodge’s facilities, you have an afternoon game drive returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Tarangire Ndovu Tented Lodge is located in the heart of Tarangire National Park, Tanzania’s wild land of elephant herds and landscapes.

The camp is open all year around and especially during the dry months, the massive elephant herds travel through the corridor between Manyara and Tarangire and spend their time in and around the park. This is because of their ability to uncover permanent sources of fresh water.  We endeavour to retain the uniqueness and intimacy of the camp, while being directed by the location, wildlife and other factors of responsible tourism.

Depart to Lake Manyara and the Great Rift Valley region. Stop at Ol Mesera Manyara Restaurant in Mto wa Mbu for lunch (excludes drinks) with Makonde carving show and experience.  Then continue to Ngorongoro Conservation Area arriving at the lodge in the afternoon for a chance to enjoy the views of the Ngorongoro Crater.  Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Early departure and descend to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater.  You game drive in this paradise.  With a space of only 102 square miles and a resident wildlife population of more than 30,000 mammals, there is a great chance that you might see all the big five.  A picnic lunch box is provided at a scenic picnic site within the crater.  In the afternoon, you return to the rim of the crater and your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Depart to Serengeti National Park arriving at the lodge for lunch.  You stop at Olduvai Gorge for a chance to see the site where the Leakey family made several important archaeological discoveries.  A small museum with some of the artefacts found can be viewed.  You also visit a cultural Maasai village.  Continue into Serengeti National Park and a hot lunch provided at the Miracle Experience Seronera restaurant (from set menu) (excludes drinks).  Following lunch, you depart and head west towards the Mbalageti Hills with game viewing en route viewing the abundant wildlife.  Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon for time to freshen up followed by dinner and overnight.

You have a choice of early morning, morning and afternoon game drives with meals at the lodge or depart on a full day game drive with picnic lunch.  Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Optional Hot Air Balloon ride

Early morning shared transfer in the balloon company vehicle to the balloon staging site.  You meet the pilot who provides a safety briefing while the crew inflate the hot air balloon.  At sunrise, your shared hot air balloon lifts off over the African plains.  At times, your pilot will ascend to a higher altitude to give you an overview of the ecosystem.  Then you descend to treetop level to silently observe the wildlife from above.  After about 50 minutes, you land and are met by the balloon staff to transport you to your shared bush breakfast.  You then return to your camp or lodge.

Morning and afternoon game drives with meals and overnight at the lodge.

Final game drive en route to Seronera airstrip.  Fly by scheduled flight to Arusha Airport departing 11:00 arriving 12:20.  You are met on arrival and transferred to Saana Restaurant for lunch (excludes drinks).  Then transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight (Note: Onward flight is not included at this stage).

You could also opt to continue to Zanzibar for some beach R&R.
