Overview
Woodall Country House & Spa is an idyllic five star country house hotel in the Eastern Cape, only minutes from the Addo Elephant National Park. It is the ideal base from which to explore the adjacent Addo Elephant Park.
Lying within a working citrus farm, Woodall offers you peace, tranquility and good food. Woodall’s famous restaurant at the water’s edge of a pretty dam, serves lots of South African dishes with fresh ingredients. The restaurant flows onto a sun-downer deck and outdoor lounge creating an enchanted mood for cocktails, moonlit dinners and after-dinner drinks, with glimpses of the dam's water birds. The deck is backed by a comfortable lounge and library.
Accommodation
Opening onto beautiful rose or indigenous gardens, the rooms combine luxury with comfort. The six luxury rooms all have private verandas or sundecks as well as air-conditioning, ceiling fan, separate bath and shower, outside shower, minibar, DVD player and mini-hi-fi, telephone, bathrobes, internet access and tea/coffee facilities. The cottages are private and spacious with a sleek elegance and decadent marble bathrooms.
The three luxurious airy suites have a contemporary feel using natural materials and raw silks. Light and spacious, each has a spacious bedroom, separate sitting room, dressing area and expansive bathroom complete with double outdoor showers and private pool. Two are suitable for families with space for extra beds or a separate annex room for children.
Spa at Woodall Country House
Woodall also has a very popular spa with three treatment rooms offering a range of pampering treatments, wet room, chill out room and sauna, as well as a well equipped gym.
After a day of game watching in the Addo Elephant Park, you can laze around the pool or relax on the expansive sun deck for a spot of bird-watching. Here canapes are served daily at sunset. Other facilities include a lounge with satellite TV and fireplace, library, CD library and wifi facilities.
Activities at Woodall
Daily game drives into Addo Elephant Park in Woodall's luxury open top game-viewing vehicle are on offer in the morning or afternoon. Other options include a river safari along the Sundays river, game drives in the nearby private game reserves, elephant back safaris, horse-riding or hiking in the nearby Zuurberg mountains or exploring the Eastern Cape Settler towns of Grahamstown and Bathurst.
Note that ideally you need to have your own rental car to enjoy some of these excursions but transfers can be arranged for many (but not all) of the activities.
