Overview

Walkersons Hotel & Spa is set amidst the highland lakes and mountains near the town of Dullstroom. It is a 1,500-acre sporting estate with a beautiful thatch and stone homestead.

Walkersons is an easy 3 hour drive from Johannesburg making it the perfect half way house between Johannesburg and the Kruger National Park. But it also offers a number of activities making it a destination in its own right.

Accommodation at Walkersons Hotel

There’s a choice of 14 lakeside suites, 11 luxury lakeside suites and one Manor suite. Each of the suites nestles privately among trees and gardens, with wonderful views across the estate's trout lakes and forests. Each has a private patio, fireplace, minibar, tea/coffee facilities, satellite television, writing desk and telephone. The luxury suites are more contemporary in style and have two bathrooms as well as an outside shower. The Manor suite is perfect for families as it has a second bedroom for children with small en suite shower room.

The manor house is very traditional in style, reminiscent of a Scottish hunting lodge with a formal a la carte dining room, comfortable sitting room, bar and a more casual dining room. Meals can also be taken outside on the terrace. Handpicked antiques and fine paintings grace public areas of the manor house.

Activities

The estate offers beautiful forest and river walks, as well as walking trails into the nature reserve where indigenous game grazes in a mountain wilderness renowned for its birdlife and prolific flowers. For the fly fisherman, all equipment is provided at a nominal cost with several kilometers of private river or many large lakes on offer. A large rainbow trout may reward your efforts. Other activities include horse riding and mountain biking. Nearby is the Amani Spa with a sauna, steam room and range of treatments on offer.
