Overview

Pavillion de l’Emyrne is a small boutique hotel in the heart of the old town (or haut-ville) of Antananarivo in an area known for its restaurants and interesting shops. It has lovely views of the Royal hill as well as the plains below. It was originally built as a private residence in the 1930s and is now a delightful city guest house with its own garden and courtyard. The old building with its high ceilings has been charmingly furnished with original Malagasy antiques in period style.

Breakfast and lunch can be taken on their dining terrace and the hotel also has a library with a collection of over 200 books on Madagascar for you to browse through and a charming sitting room with local artworks and photos which trace the history of the country. Other facilities include a sauna, spa treatment room, internet facilities, complimentary wifi, laundry as well as a chauffeur service. There’s a good choice of restaurants within a few minutes walk as well as a restaurant on site. However there is no swimming pool if you are travelling to Tana in the summer months.

Accommodation at Pavillion de l'Emyrne

Twelve en suite rooms and one apartment are all individually decorated and have either garden or city views. They mix older furniture with modern appointments with satellite TV, telephone, wifi and air-conditioning (offering both heating and cooling). The rooms are a distinct cut above the usual standard in Tana so this makes for a very personable stay in the capital.
