Overview

Namib Desert Lodge is situated 60km north of Sesriem and 30km south of Solitaire. The location of Namib Desert Lodge is ideal for an excursion to Sossusvlei and the Sesriem Canyon.

In the Gondwana Namib Park, the ‘fossilised’ dunes of the ancient Namib meet the active ones of the young Namib desert. Watch a solitary Gemsbok walk across the gravel plains, or try to unravel the mystery of the fairy circles, (large bald patches in the grasslands), or drive south to visit Sossusvlei, which boasts the highest dunes on earth.

Amongst the trees and palms at Namib Desert Lodge are 65 air-conditioned en suite rooms all with private veranda, hairdryer, safe and tea/coffee facilities. The rooms overlook either vast desert landscapes or the fossilised dunes. The main lodge facilities include complimentary wifi (variable connection given the desert location), indoor and outdoor lounge areas and two swimming pools.

The restaurant also has a cosy bar and wine cellar stocked with fine South African wines. You can join a dune drive of 2-3 hours through the magnificent scenery of fossilized dunes or simply admire the gemsbok and springbok which frequent the illuminated watering hole of the lodge after sunset Namib Desert Lodge.

Overnight at Namib Dune Star Camp

A new option would be to extend your stay by one night and enjoy a desert walking safari to Namib Dune Star Camp. Here you can escape from the world. A short guided hike leads you into a vast desert wilderness and to nine simple wooden cabins. After the dunes have transformed to gold and the distant mountains glow purple, it’s time to wheel beds onto balconies for a night under the glittering sky of the Namib.
