Overview

Hawksmoor House offers a totally unspoilt and authentic country home experience in the northern Cape Winelands close to both Stellenbosch and Paarl. It is the perfect place to unwind. There are 16 beautiful guest rooms in four buildings set around a central pool and ornamental pond and garden. The Cape Dutch Manor House, The Slave Quarters, the Dairy Rooms and Edge House are all original footprints of the historic farm, converted and furnished with an elegant mix of beautiful antique pieces. Each room is individually decorated. No matter what room you stay in, Hawksmoor exudes a delightful mix of elegance and warm, relaxed hospitality.

The Manor House is a meticulously restored yet delightful unpolished Cape Dutch gem. At its heart is the grand dining room and entrance hall, where breakfast and Country Kitchen dinners are served. Leading off from this are a drawing room with fireplace and honesty bar, a small library with internet access, a welcoming period farmhouse kitchen with aga stove and a tranquil veranda with views over the pond and garden, towards Table Mountain.

The grounds are laid out to include a large lawn, pond, lavender beds, vegetable, rose and herb gardens. There’s also a gorgeous wine cellar with fireplace, wine tasting room, and a swimming pool with a views to the distant Table Mountain.

Accommodation at Hawksmoor House

All rooms offer queen-size or twin beds, digital safes, elegant en suite bathrooms with showers or baths, underfloor heating and tea/coffee making facilities.

The five double Manor House bedrooms, with their grand proportions and high beamed ceilings offer a unique period experience, transporting you back in time to an era of rural colonial elegance.

Set across the reflecting pond from the Manor House, Edge House offers four rooms and one two-bedroomed apartment. The apartment has a private lounge, dining area and kitchen, which can be stocked for self-catering guests on request. All rooms open onto a traditional shaded farmhouse veranda with comfortable couches and a thriving collection of succulent plants. Each room has French doors leading to its own private seating area from the back of the room, with views towards Table Mountain.

The three stylish ‘Slave Quarter’ and two Dairy rooms look out across the farmlands. Each has French doors leading to its own outside seating area.

Hawksmoor House is also well situated as a base to explore both the Cape Winelands and Cape Town as it is only 25 minutes drive into the centre of Cape Town.
