Overview

Overlooking the primeval Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and with stunning views of the forest canopy across a serene stream, Bwindi Lodge is one of Africa’s unique lodges. The property has dramatic views of the impenetrable forest and is a great place to spot the monkeys and birds hidden in the foliage.

Bwindi Lodge has carefully managed the area between the lodge and the river as an apparently seamless transition into the national park. This means that mountain gorillas too feel welcome and frequently visit.

Bwindi Lodge is home to ten elegant hand-built guest Bandas facing the dramatic Bwindi Forest (two deluxe and eight standard rooms). Enjoy the exceptional hospitality, locally-inspired food and personal butler service for all guests. The Forest Spa Humula mw' Ishamba has two massage rooms and a sauna. All guests receive a 50-minute complimentary massage.

Activities

Tracking mountain gorillas through the dense African forests is a magical experience. Only eight visitors are allowed per gorilla group each day, and to minimize possible transmission of human diseases, visitors are asked to maintain a distance of 10m from the gorillas. Typically, tracking can take from 3 to 8 hours and requires some agility and fitness; however, all fitness levels can be accommodated and no one should feel deterred from missing this once in a lifetime experience. You can start your gorilla trek from the lodge with Bwindi Lodges' direct private footpath into the Forest.

As well as gorilla trekking, guests can enjoy guided forest walks, waterfall walks and community walks, visits to community upliftment projects or the local orphanage. Fees go to the community. A complimentary massage is welcomed by many guests and there is a self-guided river walk. Further afield, guests can participate in the Batwa Trail.
