Overview

Avondrood Guesthouse is a charming Victorian Cape-Dutch homestead close to the centre of Franschhoek, South Africa's renowned gourmet capital. Rich in history, today's Franschhoek is well-known for its award winning wine estates, restaurants and lovely valley setting.

The original Cape-Dutch house was built in 1870. It has been stylishly renovated adding modern-day comforts whilst retaining many original features. Avondrood offers six generous rooms, one in the main homestead and five overlooking the garden. One of these is a two bedroom family suite accessed via a spiral staircase. It has a large terrace with glorious mountain and valley views, a small sitting area and one bathroom. It can also be accessed via the main homestead as well. A contemporary selection of paintings and sculptures decorate the rooms, lounge, garden and patio. Avonsrood has a surprisingly large garden with private swimming pool and jacuzzi.

Franschhoek is well situated to enjoy the Cape Winelands, and even Cape Town. To see whales basking and white sharks diving at Hermanus and Gansbaai will take about a 1-1½ hour’s drive.

This stunning guest house surprises guests with its picturesque views within the heart of the guest house. The main building contains historic roots, still having the original interior design as the farmhouse it was. Inside the main house, you can relish in the spacious lounge next to the grand fireplace or settle into your favourite cocktail at the fully stocked bar and watch the game. The guesthouse provides 8 suites, all offering a different theme exclusive to the room alone. The team at Avondrood will treat guests with the utmost hospitality and will stop at nothing to ensure that the guest has the most enjoyable stay. Being energy efficient, Avondrood is in the progress of going completely off the grid, powering the guesthouse with solar power alone. The guesthouse consists of three luxury rooms, one deluxe room, and three luxury suites. Also on-site, guests can enjoy the exclusive Mountain View Suite, the only room situated on the second floor of the guesthouse.
