Overview

Andasibe Hotel lies in its own private forest reserve. There are 20 spacious contemporary bungalows. Each has wooden flooring, neutral tones offset by bold flashes of colour in bedspreads and paintwork, satellite TV, air-conditioning, minibar, heating, safe and en suite bathroom. Each has a private terrace where you can relax with a good book and a glass of something.

Other facilities include a restaurant serving both international and Malagasy dishes as well as a cocktail bar. Other facilities include a swimming pool, billiards, pétanque and a selection of board games There’s also a treatment room for massages – perfect for tired legs after a morning of hiking in the forest reserves. Outside there is a playground for children with a trampoline.

In the heat of the day, the swimming pool beckons but later on you may enjoy a nature walk in their own private reserve backing the hotel or kayaking on the little nearby river.

Andasibe Hotel review

Andasibe Hotel is an equally good alternative to Vakona Forest Lodge in the Andasibe-Mantadia park area. As both are very popular, it may be a case of which one has space! Here the rooms are noticeably grander and larger than the rooms at Vakona. But I felt that the main building was less characterful so its a case of 'swings and roundabouts'. Do you like lazing in your room or do you like sitting in the main lodge? The rooms were some of the nicest I saw  on mainland Madagascar with copious use of wood, a separate sitting area, minibar, large bathroom with walk in shower (albeit with chocolate-coloured tiles).

The gardens are very well established full of tropical shrubs. The food was also good, though quite as good as Vakona. They are rebuilding an open air covered pagoda in the middle of a small lake which will be a lovely spot for lunch and even evenings in the summer months.
