Abalone House is a little boutique hotel with ten suites in the picturesque fishing village of Paternoster on the Cape West Coast, known for its unspoilt white-washed thatched cottages. Some β though not many β of the ten suites enjoy sea views but the white sandy beach and ocean lie only a few meters away. Many suites also have private outdoor relaxation areas and there is even a rooftop Jacuzzi with sea views - to relax after your sight-seeing is done. Or you can cool off in the swimming pool, before enjoying a cocktail in the Africa Bar. A coveted and highly acclaimed Reubenβs restaurant opened in October 2013, elevating Abalone House to new heights of luxury, decadence and service. Β The elegant Reuben's Restaurant at Abalone House is open for lunch and dinner to both in-house guests and members of the public.
All the suites are air-conditioned and have flat screen televisions and cappuccino/espresso machines, mini bar, ipod docking station, laptop safe, CD and DVD player and a digital weather forecast station. Book and DVD libraries are available for the enjoyment of guest.
Wherever possible, Abalone House is eco-friendly too. Water is solar heated, and all kitchen refuse is separated for easy recycling. Thereβs even a worm farm to generate fertilizer for the surrounding gardens.
In Paternoster you can go kayaking, enjoy pottery and cooking workshops or scuba diving. During spring, a visit to the Columbine Nature Reserve is a must for its displays of wildflowers and at any time, a walk along the 7km of open beach is enticing. Nearby Langebaan has kite surfing and daily sundowner lagoon cruises. Β Alternatively, you can relax at Abalone House's Healing Earth Spa - it offers unique signature treatments available exclusively to guests.
A stay at Abalone House would work very well either at the beginning or end of your holiday so that you can truly rest and relax before returning to everyday life.
