Noka Camp

Perched dramatically above the Palala River in the vast Lapalala Wilderness Reserve, Noka Camp is a striking contemporary safari lodge in South Africa’s malaria-free Waterberg. Lapalala encompasses some 50,000 hectares of mountains, river valleys, open plains and clear rock pools, with wildlife roaming through an environment that still feels refreshingly untouched. Days can be shaped around game drives and time exploring the reserve, but this is also somewhere to slow the pace. The dramatic landscape, river setting and small scale of the camp give Noka a rather different feel from many of South Africa’s better-known safari lodges. Melote House

For those looking for complete exclusivity, Melote House is Lepogo’s private-use safari house, designed for extended families or groups of friends travelling together. The main house is arranged over three tiers and accommodates up to 12 guests, while a separate cottage beside the house can sleep a further four. With generous living spaces and the freedom of a private-house experience, Melote is an appealing choice for a celebratory safari or a relaxed multi-generational stay, combining the wilderness and conservation focus of Lepogo with considerably more privacy and flexibility.

The Pangolarium at Lepogo Lodges

One of the most interesting conservation initiatives at Noka Camp is The Pangolarium, a specialist pangolin rehabilitation centre within the Lapalala Wilderness Reserve. Created to care for pangolins rescued from the illegal wildlife trade, it provides a safe environment for veterinary treatment and rehabilitation before suitable animals are released back into protected wilderness. It is a thoughtful extension of Lepogo’s wider conservation philosophy, giving guests a deeper sense of the work taking place behind the scenes to protect these incredible mammals.
