Woodall House versus Elephant House review

It’s difficult to choose between Woodall House or Elephant House as they are both quite different and each will appeal to different people. However I would recommend either with confidence.

  • Woodall is the more modern of the two, the rooms are sleek and clean with luxurious marble bathrooms. In contrast Elephant House offers English Colonial charm personified. Personally I love this look with old style sofas and antiques arranged on covered terraces overlooking couryard gardens. The pool garden is particularly romantic and stylish. But if you prefer a more contemporary look then Woodall may be more your scene.
  • Woodall has a big focus on the spa facilities, and also on food.
  • Both offer guided game drives into Addo Elephant Park. Elephant House also offers a guided wine and historical tour of the Sundays River valley
  • Elephant House also has the option of the Stables wine bar across the lane either for pre-dinner drinks or for a light meal.
  • Elephant House decor in the bedrooms contrasts with its more ornate style in the public rooms. The bedrooms are simply furnished in country style with simple bathrooms with walk in showers only. My only thought is that these could feel a little cold in the height of winter (eg June-July) but would be probably cooler in summer (a good thing!)

Conclusion – Personally Elephant House has the edge for me, but many others would prefer Woodall…
