Mari’s review of Kaya Mawa
I absolutely fell in love with Kaya Mawa. It feels like your own private island. No need to go all the way to the Indian Ocean Islalds. This feels as romantic and remote and at a much lower price tag.

Huntingdon House has old world charm which may not appeal to everyone. I liked it but it was slightly dark and a little old-fashioned. However, the food was excellent, as was the setting.
I love the riverside setting of Mkulumadzi and you can hear the water flowing throughout the day and night. I suspect that the swing bridge – being the only way to get to the camp – may be a logistical nightmare for the lodge to manage. But we found it was a magical part of the experience for us.
The Elephant Camp is a slice of heaven! A mere 10 minute drive from Victoria Falls, it offers complete luxury and relaxation, as well as unforgettable interactions with wildlife.
I had heard wonderful things about the ‘Grand Old Lady’ and rightly so … the Victoria Falls Hotel is striking and
If you want to explore the Sabie and Hazyview area then Tanamera Lodge is a really lovely option. My husband and I stayed there for 3 nights whilst on honeymoon, and it was the perfect place to relax and unwind, and also a great base from which to check out the many attractions close by.
Believe it or not, we saw a rhino right on the side of the main road! We were told that Simbavati Hilltop has one of the most stunning elevated views of the veld in the area … and we were not disappointed! It is luxury mixed with comfort at its best at Simbavati Hilltop. The lodge has been beautifully decorated with lots of earthy tones, effective lighting and contemporary decor items.
Swaziland is a beautiful country with green rolling hills and mountains … Reilly’s Hilltop Lodge depicts its amazing landscapes as it is set in the Mlilwane Game Reserve. The lodge is the old homestead of conservationist Ted Reilly, so we felt like we were experiencing a piece of the past. Reilly’s Hilltop Lodge is the perfect place to spend a night or two in Swaziland, especially if you are doing a self-drive and are travelling from the Kruger area to Kwazulu Natal. It breaks up the trip and will give you the rejuvenation you need to drive the next stretch.
Imbabala is a great little safari camp offering excellent value for money, especially with the three night ‘package’ which includes a guided tour of Victoria Falls either before you transfer in to the lodge (or as you transfer out) as well as a full day visit to Chobe National Park.
