Greenpop

Greenpop is on a mission to plant trees, green communities and empower environmental stewards across sub-Saharan Africa. What began as an urban greening project in the city centres has now expanded into fynbos planting and reforestation.

Though our forests form a vital role in our Earth’s ecosystem, they are degrading at an alarming rate thanks to global deforestation efforts. As a continent, Africa had the highest global net loss of forests over the last 10 years, at an average loss of 3.9 million hectares per year. How can we promote the biodiversity of our amazing continent, whilst much of it is withering away?

How we got our own hands dirty!

Through Greenpop and our fantastic pledge partnership, Cedarberg Africa is on a mission to plant, plant, plant! Greenpop was founded in 2010 and has since worked across Sub-Saharan Africa and empowered thousands of people around the world to get active (not anxious) about the future of our planet. Since its inception, Greenpop has planted over 250β€―000 trees and has involved over 350β€―000 people in its efforts. They work on various projects, including urban greening, forest reforestation and food gardens in the under-greened communities in South Africa. Along with tree planting, Greenpop runs environmental education programs in schools and communities to teach the importance of biodiversity and sustainable practices. Their approach to combining environmental action with community engagement creates easy access to conservation efforts.Β Β

For every booking we make, Cedarberg Africa – via Greenpop – plants a tree, in your name. You also get a lovely certificate telling you exactly where your tree has been planted.
