Wine-tasting on the Breede River Wine Route

The Route 62 is known for its wine estates. Many of these estates lie in the Breede River Wine Route or Robertson Wine Valley. Nestled between the Langeberg and Riviersonderend Mountain ranges, this wine route offers a landscape of flower fringed roads, majestic mountains and world class wines. Although these estates are not as old or as grand as those of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, the wine is often every bit as good. And often more affordable!

Assuming you are driving from Worcester towards Robertson, we recommend Graham Beck Estates on the right-hand side. And Nuy Estates on the left-hand side. Between Robertson and Swellendam lies Zandvliet Wine Estate. Also good are Viljoensdrift Wine Estate and Van Loveren Wine Estate with its beautiful gardens. These are found on the Robertson to Bonnievale road (R317). You can find some of the best Chardonnay and Shiraz here!

Some of the wine estates on the Route 62 offer other activities such as boat cruises (Viljoensdrift Wine Estate), as well as tractor rides or lazy lunches under the trees.
