Schulphoek Seafront House

CEDARBERG RATING

Luxury

Overview

Founded in 1999, Schulphoek House offers understated luxury and Cape refinement to its guests. The house overlooks the bay from which it receives its name; an idyllic cove where whales often visit.

Situated 4 km from Hermanus, Schulphoek is a well known eco-conscious refuge. This protected reserve and its shoreline is also home to many birds, small mammals and marine life which can be viewed on the seashore paths nearby. Whales visit from late August through to December and often stop by in front of the House.

The Accommodation

The House comprises fifteen rooms, each one offers thoughtful decor touches and luxurious amenities. Rooms and bathrooms are individually decorated with a collection of fine original South African art and original pieces of furniture, the focus being on mid-century.

There are different room configurations; generously sized superior, luxury, standard and family suites offering options with patios overlooking the garden, or with sweeping views of the bay.

The Restaurant

Schulphoek House takes great pride in its cuisine and wine offering. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner for in-house guests.
The dinner menu is limited to fresh and locally sourced ingredients; venison from the nearby Karoo region, beef from Free to Roam farms and fresh fish sourced from local fishermen. Fruit and vegetables are sourced from local farmers. Herbs and baby vegetables are grown in our garden.

The wine collection has been carefully curated from the Hemel-en-Aarde region.

Activities

Those seeking time-out and relaxation can spend time at one of the many salt-pool that Schulphoek House has. Sip a gin and tonic or a glass of wine on the patio while the sun sets over the ocean or take a walk down to one of the calm sea pools or secluded beaches to take in the fresh Atlantic ocean air.

They cab arrange trips to the local wine-route, township experience, boat based whale watching or shark cage diving, and many other activities. There are even a few walking trails for those that are interested in getting to know the area be foot.
