Overview
Located on the western edge of the Kruger National Park, an area that spans over 2.4 million hectares, the Timbavati Game Reserve is truly exceptional in that it is easily accessible from main air and road access routes and yet remains wild and unspoilt with fewer lodges and private homes than can be counted on one hand. The Main Lodge is a perfect haven where you will find a superbly situated deck with stunning views of the dam, allowing you to unwind and watch amazing wildlife scenes unfold before your eyes. It is a lovely area to either relax on your own and take in the beauty of your surroundings or to socialise with others and share stories about your sightings.
Activities at Makanyi
Overlooking a permanent waterhole with traversing rights to over 8000 hectares of private concessions the lodge prides itself on not only giving guests a very private safari experience, but also on its homely atmosphere with welcoming staff, superb cuisine and the utmost attention to detail.
In addition to exciting game drives, there are plenty of other activities to indulge in, from guided bush walks with your ranger, to fishing in one of the many dams in the company of hippos, to star gazing at night.
There is a well-equipped gym, a pool to cool down in during the hottest hours of the day and a hot tub to soak in in the cooler evening temperatures. You can also enjoy a spa treatment in the privacy of your room or in the peaceful massage area.
Accommodation
Every one of the seven suites (145sqm) overlooks the magnificent dam and comes with an extra-large bed, a relaxing sitting area with its own gas fireplace, a beautiful bathroom with a spacious shower and separate bathtub, a private deck with loungers, and an outdoor shower. Premium Healing Earth amenities, complimentary Wi-Fi, telephone, hair dryer, safe, mini bar, a Nespresso coffee machine and tea making facilities are found in every room.
All suites have a terrace to relax and view the game which frequents the lodge grounds, and all have views of the permanent dam.

The Marula Suite
The Marula Suite is a 2-bedroomed private escape, ideal for small group of friends or couples travelling together. Not only is this beautiful villa set on its own away from the main lodge, offering ultimate privacy. There is a large deck with swimming pool and private boma giving guests a total of 366sqm/3400sqft to enjoy. Meals are taken at the main lodge. The two beautiful bedrooms, are both en-suite and there is a spacious lounge which opens out onto the main deck where you can while away the hours relaxing in the sun watching the game walk by your own private game viewing paradise.
