Overview

  • Intimate and child-friendly
  • Closest camp to the Sabie river
  • Well-trained and experienced ranger and tracker teams

Londolozi Founders Camp, in the Sabi Sands, is enchanting, intimate and child friendly. Londolozi is recognised as one of the finest private game reserves in Africa and justly famous for its leopard sightings.

Founders Camp is ideally situated to provide an insider’s view of wildlife at the river, being the closest camp to the Sabie River. The ten chalets lie in the shade of ancient ebony and matumi trees enjoying expansive river views. All are furnished in a classic safari style with earthy textures, classic black and cream ticking fabric and original mahogany beds. Glass-walled bathrooms offer beautiful bush views.

In the public areas, deep leather couches, military chests and a riverside lounge sala, create a mood of easy luxury and laid back comfort. These sitting areas lead out to an elevated wooden walkway ending in a thatched riverside lounge sala, ideal for a spot of game-watching whilst lazily reading your book. The swimming pool is contoured to complement the curves of the Sand River.

As with Pioneer Camp, the Founders family suites have inter-connecting sky walks between chalets, giving this camp a young and vibrant energy that appeals to modern day families.

Families at Founders Camp

Londolozi Founders Camp offers an innovative family safari programme which doesn't just aim to keep children amused, but focuses on learning about Africa's wilderness areas. Children from 6 years up to teenagers join their Cubs programme. This fun collection of activities includes bird identification, fishing, bug catching,  tracking, learning about plants and their medicinal uses  on special game drives and walks. Teeangers may spend time with the rangers and their Land Rovers, learn about understanding your weapon with shooting practise. They also know that some kids love getting dirty and loud so African dance, singing and drumming, gumboot dancing, mud playing and dung splitting is also on the menu!  For those more creartive children, indoor activities include paper mache, candle making, baking and bead making to get those imaginative juices flowing. Founders Camp has a series of innovative skywalks which allow parents to be accessible to children in neighbouring chalets.

As well as morning and afternoon-into-night game drives with professional rangers and Shangaan trackers, guests can also enjoy interpretative walks through the staff village, with visits to the school and the community crafts centre. Dramatic bush breakfasts, sundowners and dinner banquets are regularly hosted at various scenic wilderness locations on the Reserve.
