Overview

Lentaba, the “lodge on the hillside,” is situated in the Lalibela Game Reserve. It is part of a cluster of game reserves in the Eastern Cape. Together, they make up the Indalo Protected Environment, which is a legally protected conservation area. Lalibela is one of the very few Eastern Cape game reserves that is comprised of one contiguous, fully self-sustaining block where all species roam freely.

The main lodge has been decorated in a traditional African safari style and boasts a large lounge, viewing deck and a sunny swimming pool, perfect for a lazy afternoon. Relax on either of the lodge's two decks and soak up the views of the valley and waterhole. Lentaba has three fireplaces, and these add to the safari ambiance that Lentaba is so well known for. The outdoor dining “boma” has a commanding view of a waterhole which is spotlit after dark for night game viewing. There is also a stylish indoor dining area.

Lentaba is home to ten secluded thatched chalets, placed where magnificent indigenous gardens merge into the surrounding bush. Each chalet has an en-suite bathroom and private observation deck to make the most of the views over the valley bushveld.

Activities

Game drives at Lalibela Lentaba Lodge take place when the wildlife is most active, in the early morning and late afternoon. The game drives will take between three and four hours, with a sundowner stop at sunset and a coffee stop in the morning. The afternoon game drives usually return to the lodge after dark in time for dinner.

In addition to game drives, Lalibela Lentaba Lodge offers a Big 5 Walking Safari, led by qualified rangers, which offers a unique, rewarding and authentic experience of the African bush. While searching for wildlife, your guide will also point out animal tracks, dung and birds which will give you a unique understanding of the fauna and flora indigenous to the region.
