Overview

Leeu Estate is an exclusive boutique hotel, winery and wellness spa all rolled into one. It is set among the lush vineyards, gardens and fynbos of the scenic Franschhoek valley, only minutes away from the village of Franschhoek. This means it's just under an hour's drive to Cape Town. The property with 17 luxuriously appointed rooms and suites, takes central position on 68 hectares of vineyards, landscaped gardens and fynbos (indigenous vegetation) in the Franschhoek valley. Located between the mountainside and river, it is the ideal setting for an elegant and sophisticated private hideaway, offering superb comfort, fine dining and platinum service.

The individually styled bedrooms feature superbly comfortable beds with high quality linen, with curtains and upholstery in natural linens, contributing to the relaxed yet sophisticated feel. The luxury en-suite bathrooms have marble floors, double vanity tops, free-standing baths and/or generous showers, underfloor heating and heated towel rails.

The Dining Room encourages long, leisurely meals. Savour the moment and pair it with a fine South African vintage from the cellar. Located in the commanding Manor House on Leeu Estate on the slopes of the Dassenberg mountain, the setting will meet you head on!

Also within the Manor House is the reading room: an intimate space with a welcoming wood-burning fireplace. The beautifully appointed room opens onto an inviting veranda with outstanding views of oak trees, gardens, vineyards and the Franschhoek valley. Lined with tall cabinets, the extensive selection of books includes the classics and coffee-table books. Also available are readings on two icons, Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela, as well as the art of wine-making. The Reading Room also features board games and a games table where guests can play a relaxing few rounds of backgammon, a more challenging chess match or a stimulating game of Monopoly or Scrabble, among others. Cocktails and other refreshments are also served for guests' added enjoyment.
