Karen Blixen Camp is an eco-friendly luxury camp beautifully located on the Mara River, in the Mara North Conservancy.
Accommodation & Facilities
The Camp comprises 22 large luxury canvas tents, each located with a stunning view along the Mara River. The restaurant, reception, lounge and bar are set on a raised wooden deck and furnished with accurate reproductions of Karen Blixen’s private furniture.
The swimming pool offers relaxation and even a little exercise in between game drives whilst the resident masseuse offers a wide range of wellness and beauty treatments. Karen Blixen Camp is the perfect place to sit back and relax with a gin and tonic overlooking the Mara River, watching the wildlife coming to drink, whilst swapping stories about the adventures of the day.
Game drives at Karen Blixen Camp are mostly within the Mara North Conservancy, where guests will enjoy a more exclusive and private safari experience. However, during the migration, drives into the Masai Mara National Reserve can be arranged upon request.
Aside from game drives, game walks (with armed guides) are arranged for those who wish to experience the magnitude of the Mara on foot; nature walks, conducted within the camp, focus entirely on the rich birdlife and little insects inhabiting the area and how the Masai make use of the indigenous plants for medical and ritual purposes; community visits to the local Maasai Manyatta (village), school, market and church give anyone interested a closer understanding of the proud Maasai people and their heritage.
