Overview

Nestled on the banks of the Tsauchab River is the beautiful Hoodia Desert Lodge. Surrounded by majestic mountains, Hoodia is only a 20 minute drive from the Sesriem Gate, entrance of the world famous red sand-dunes of Sossusvlei. Sossusvlei, in the heart of the Namib Desert, the oldest desert in the world, is surely one of the most spectacular sights in Namibia.

Accommodation

Hoodia is family-owned and run offering friendly and enthusiastic service. Eleven comfortable thatched, partly tented bungalows are spaced well apart from each other offering privacy and tranquility in this unspoilt wilderness area. The bungalows have open air bathrooms with generous bathtubs. All are equipped with air-conditioning, tea/coffee facilities, mini-fridge, mosquito nets and shaded decks. An added bonus is stargazing platforms for those crystal-clear desert nights, when you can almost reach out and touch the stars.

The main lodge under thatch has a lounge area with fireplace, elegant bar, a shaded outside lounge deck and swimming pool, also with a shaded area for those hot desert days. In the restaurant you can enjoy both international and traditional Namibian cuisine. The wines accompanying the meal are South African and come from their own underground wine cellar.

Hoodia Lodge includes a complimentary Sossusvlei dune excursion for all guests. On request they also offer guided Namib Naukluft mountain excursions, to enjoy the bird and plantlife as well as sundowner excursions. Hot air ballooning, horse trails and helicopter flights can all be requested at extra cost (at neighbouring lodges).
