DumaTau Camp

DumaTau Camp lies in the western part of the private Linyanti Reserve and has an impressive 125,000 hectares of prime wildlife countryside. Perhaps most notably, the camp is located between two elephant corridors, offering the perfect combination of land and river activities. The camp is located on the Osprey Lagoon, close to the source of the Savuti River. One third of the Savuti Channel is situated within this reserve.

The Camp

DumaTau Camp overlooks the lagoon and is elevated off the ground with transparent sliding doors to make the most of the surrounding sweeping views of the lagoon and river. It has 7 ensuite well-appointed tents under canvas and one family unit, all with private plunge pools and comfortable lounge area, large bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers. The architecture evokes the age of the explorers along with a sense of space, thanks to the wraparound clear-storey window providing dramatic views of the river. The main areas include an expansive deck, dining and lounge area all sporting the same vista, while a new wellness centre and gym (shared with Little DumaTau), includes  an shaded deck with lap pool, spa, snack deli and trading store. DumaTau Camp operates completely on solar energy for hot water, lighting and other energy needs, and is built of FSC-standard timber.

DumaTau Activities

Because of its proximity to the dry Savuti Channel, game drives and walks are rich in wildlife. Linyanti is well-known for its elephant concentrations as they congregate in the waterways and lagoons during the dry winter months. Day and night drives are complemented by midday boat rides to view the hippos and short nature walks along the Linyanti River and Savuti Channel. There is also a fairly productive underground hide which is popular with elephants during the dry months.
