Dinaka is an exclusive private reserve hugging the northern edge of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. As such it is host to one of the most unique bio-diversities in Southern Africa. This ever-changing desert landscape gives refuge to the Kalahari lion, springbok, Oryx and brown hyena. Thus the camp itself provides the perfect start or finish to any discerning travelersde Botswana safari.
There are seven spacious twin and double-bedded safari tents. Each has an en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor shower, hot and cold running water and flush toilet. Families are accommodated in a two-bedroomed tent, sharing a spacious en-suite bathroom. All the tents are well spaced and raised up on wooden decks giving the perfect vantage point over a permanent water hole. All areas of camp are accessible by wheelchair and connected by wooden walkways.
The annual rains transform the arid desert landscape into a lush profusion of Kalahari vegetation. So you have a unique insight into the lesser known desert experience. The Sleep Out deck offers guests a panoramic view and the opportunity to spend the night under the magnificent African night sky.
Given its location, the focus of activities at Dinaka is exploring the Kalahari experience. Here wildlife ranges from giraffe to antelope, small mammals like the honey badger, bat eared fox and porcupine. Plus the predators are present, including the Kalahari lion, cheetah, leopard and brown hyena.
Activities include morning and afternoon game drives in open safari vehicles, with afternoon game drives often continuing into the evening. They guarantee ensures no more than four guests per vehicle when out on game drives. Alternatively, you may get more up close and personal with nature on a guided bush walk. Birding is particularly spectacular as Dinaka hosts over 200 different bird species including the Kori Bustard and Crimson Breasted Shrike. There’s also a high concentration of Pale Chanting Goshawks.
Year-round water holes result in spectacular photographic opportunities either from the vehicle, on foot or one of several hides/bunkers. Dinaka offers the perfect contrast to the Okavango Delta, with an added hidden treasure!
