Safari Routing

Your journey begins in the Laikipia region at Ol Pejeta Bush Camp, set along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. Ol Pejeta is one of Kenya’s most important conservation success stories, renowned for its pioneering wildlife protection and extraordinary biodiversity. It is home to the last two remaining northern white rhinos on Earth, alongside the largest population of black rhino in East Africa. Game drives reveal an impressive mix of species, from elephant and lion to Grevy’s zebra, while the conservancy’s open landscapes and varied habitats make for consistently rewarding sightings.

From Laikipia, you fly into the greater Maasai Mara for a contrasting safari experience at Encounter Mara, located within the private Mara Naboisho Conservancy. This exclusive area borders the Maasai Mara National Reserve but offers a quieter, more intimate safari with fewer vehicles, off-road driving, and outstanding big-cat sightings. The rolling savannah, dotted with acacia trees, supports healthy populations of lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, giraffe, and plains game throughout the year.

Family Safari Activities

Throughout the safari, children are welcomed as explorers in their own right. Both camps offer thoughtfully designed activities such as fire-making demonstrations, short bush walks around camp, baking sessions with the kitchen team, and well-stocked “kiddies trunks” filled with games, sports equipment, and creative activities. At Encounter Mara, children can also try a Maasai-style bow and arrow experience, offering insight into local culture in an engaging, age-appropriate way.

The result is a safari that feels immersive yet unhurried. It combines iconic wildlife, meaningful conservation stories, and shared family moments that linger long after the journey ends.

Optional Beach Extension

An optional Kenya beach extension allows the safari to conclude with a few days of relaxation on the Indian Ocean, offering the perfect balance to the adventure of the bush. Chat to us about what will work best for you.
