Tanzania is a breathtaking destination for those new to safari and for experienced safari enthusiasts alike. With over 25% of the country designated as either a game reserve, national park or controlled area, a safari in Tanzania offers abundant wildlife in prime, world famous locations such as the Ngorongoro crater and the Serengeti, and lesser known but equally stunning areas like Lake Manyara, Ruaha and Selous. As a fascinating contrast, luxuriate on the pristine silver beaches of the Zanzibar archipelago or soak up the spice-scented atmosphere and explore the winding streets of Stone Town.
The quality of Tanzanian lodges and the general infrastructure has come on dramatically in recent years: your Tanzania safari can be sublimely luxurious, wildly adventurous or suitable for the more modest budget. Whilst other safari formats are perfectly viable in Tanzania, we usually recommend private guides and exclusive use of a vehicle on our safaris.
Regions of Tanzania

Serengeti National Park
Gaze for miles over the African plains, green or gold according to the season but always full of life.

Ngorongoro Crater
To miss out on that achingly lovely vista from the crater rim to the crater floor would be unimaginable.

Kilimanjaro & Arusha
Admire Africa's iconic peak from afar or prepare for the trekking experience of a lifetime.

Zanzibar & Islands
Give in to the siren call of the islands, to the warm waters and beaches of Zanzibar, the coral reefs of Mnemba, Pemba and Mafia.

Selous Game Reserve
Not only the road less-travelled - but you can take to a boat to see hippo and crocodile or track elephant on foot.
Western Tanzania & Lake Tanganika
The most inaccessible spots reward the adventurer; huge herds of buffalo or the chance to track wild chimpanzees.

Tarangire National Park
Head to the riverbanks in the early summer, when this is the only watersource for wildebeest, elephant, zebra and more.

Ruaha National Park
Enjoy Tanzania's most varied wildlife and scenery in the largest and wildest national park.

Lake Manyara National Park
Manyara's wide range of habitats make this small park a treat, for elephant and baboon more than for elusive tree-climbing lion.

Dar es Salaam & Coast
Stay on the mainland coast for Swahili culture and long walks or horserides on peaceful beaches.
