Tanzania

Tanzania is a breathtaking safari destination for those new to safaris and for experienced safari enthusiasts alike. With over 25% of Tanzania designated as either a game reserve, national park or controlled area, a Tanzania safari offers abundant wildlife in prime, world famous locations such as the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti, and lesser known but equally stunning areas like Lake Manyara National Park, Ruaha National Park and Selous Game Reserve. As a fascinating contrast, end your Tanzania safari by soaking up the sun on the pristine silver beaches of the Zanzibar archipelago or imbibe the spice-scented atmosphere of the winding streets of Stone Town.

The quality of Tanzanian game lodges and the general infrastructure has come on dramatically in recent years: your Tanzania safari can be sublimely luxurious, wildly adventurous or suitable for the more modest budget. Whilst other safari formats are perfectly viable in Tanzania, we usually recommend private guides and exclusive use of a vehicle on our safaris.

When to enjoy a Tanzania safari
There are two rainy seasons in Tanzania and these dictate the best safari areas for each season; the short rains from November to January bring afternoon showers whereas the long rains from late March to early June mean longer, more severe downpours. From June onwards, the temperature rises agreeably and the drier weather makes the southern Parks more accessible. The coastal areas and southern Tanzania are generally hot and humid all year round, with cool breezes from June to September.
