Safari Description
Begin in the Tarangire National Park, a quietly compelling reserve known for its baobab-dotted landscapes and remarkable concentrations of wildlife during the dry season. Large herds of elephant move between the river and surrounding plains, while zebra and wildebeest gather in significant numbers. The Tarangire offers a more relaxed and intimate safari experience. It is a great reserve where you can hop off the game drive vehicle and enjoy being on foot in the bush. Game walks are a particular feature of visiting this park.
You then drive onto the Ngorongoro Crater where you spend two nights. The Crater is a natural ampitheatre, with one of the highest densities of wildlife in Africa. You have time to explore both the Crater and surrounding highlands.
Finally you head north to the wide open plains of the Serengeti at Lamai where you are likely to see lion, hyena, cheetah and maybe leopard. The Serengeti sets the stage for classic predator sightings. Depending on the season, the Great Migration may pass through this region. After three nights, you return to Arusha.
Note: Most people preface this tour with a night in or near Arusha depending on your flight arrival time. Note that you can also opt to fly into Tarangire for an extra supplement.
