Overview

  • New camp in North Luangwa
  • Takwela Camp is just one of the three camps in the North Luangwa
  • Offers both game drives and walking safaris

Takwela Camp is the latest camp to be added to the Remote Africa Safaris collection. This is a real hidden gem being one of the three camps in the North Luangwa National Park. It is located on the private land belonging to Remote Africa Safaris situated where the Luangwa and Mwaleshi Rivers meet. Being situated in one of the last true wilderness areas allows you to live fully 'in the moment' when on safari.

The Camp

This exclusive camp is built mostly from local, natural materials and constructed with local skills. Takwela is also solar powered. This keeps its footprint low and easy to maintain without bringing in materials and skills from outside of the park.

The camp has just two thatched chalets at present and two further chalets to be added in 2020. Each room is en suite with an open-air bathroom, mosquito nets, fan and has sweeping views of the Mwaleshi and Luangwa Rivers.

Game Activities

At Takwela, you have both game drives and safari walks to get the best of both worlds in exploring the untamed wilderness of North Luangwa Park. As Takwela is one of the three camps operating in the North Luangwa National Park, there will be few other vehicles and people. You can choose to have specialist walking safaris, camp out, a day trip to Mwaleshi Falls, walking at Mwaleshi River or night drives.

With it's unspoilt 4,636 km² the North Luangwa National Park plays host to a successful black rhino sanctuary and supports healthy populations of lion, hyena, elephant, buffalo, leopard, wildebeest, hippo and wild dog. A perfect place for lovers of wildlife and the bush.
