Overview

Nestled in the foothills of the Virunga Volcanoes, Mount Gahinga Lodge is an exclusive Uganda adventure lodge that has the impressive backdrop of three of the volcanoes themselves. Its rustic charm creates an absorbing atmosphere of tranquility and history.

The perfect location for trekking the volcanoes, bird watching, seeing the Golden Monkeys and visiting a spending time with the Batwa Pygmies at their newly developed cultural centre. Opened by Volcanoes Safaris and designed with, and developed to directly benefit, the Batwa, this is a unique experience allowing you to learn from and mix with these people.

The main building features a rustic living space with a warm central fire that offers the ideal environment for relaxing at the end of the day, with the terrace outside and a spacious sun room adjoining the living area completing the peaceful and open style.

Guest Bandas

Each of the nine spacious bandas has been thoroughly renovated to offer unparalleled luxury in the region. Each papyrus-roofed room has a fireplace and an en-suite bathroom and each is reached by taking a short stroll through the large gardens that fill the lodge with life.

Each of the bandas are named after one of the Virunga Volcanoes and there are 2 doubles, 6 twins and 1 single.

All of the bandas are equipped with their own en-suite bathrooms with flushing toilet, double vanity, and shower with hot and cold running water. The bedroom has walk-in mosquito nets, 240v lighting (with emergency solar lamp & torch provided), and a large private veranda with excellent views.

Room facilities include a deck or veranda, dressing gowns, en-suite bathroom, hair dryer, safe and tea & coffee facilities,

Guest Bandas

• 8 unique handbuilt bandas (2 deluxe and standard) of which 6 doubles and 2 twins. All with a private veranda offering spectacular views of the Virunga volcanoes. No guide/tour leader rooms available at the lodge. • All rooms are complete with en-suite bathrooms with flushing toilet, double vanity and shower with hot & cold running water. • Personal butler service for all guests. • The Gahinga Lodge Gushimisha Spa is available to every guest. All massages are complimentary and subject to booking and availability. • Full board accommodation including all soft drinks and regular and premium alcoholic beverages including cocktails, cellar collection wines and single malt whiskies. Guests pay for French champagne only. • Complimentary laundry service. • Power sockets/charging facilities available in the main lodge and guest bandas. Hair dryers available in the rooms.
