Overview
This Best of Uganda scheduled 8 Day safari from Entebbe is primarily about visiting and tracking the Mountain Gorillas in Uganda as well as game-viewing in the Queen Elizabeth National Park. There is the opportunity to trek gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest twice as well as taking forest walks. The gorilla experience is followed by a visit to Queen Elizabeth National Park so that you enjoy some general game-viewing as well as gorilla trekking. Uganda boasts some of the top birding in Africa with over 1000 species including many endemic forest birds and the grey-crowned crane. This safari is based on staying in good lodges and luxury tented camps.
This is ideal for reasonally fit people as it involves walking in rugged conditions. It operates with a minimum of 2 people and maximum of 6 people in specially customised 4x4 safari vehicles. The nights under canvas still have private bathrooms with flush toilets and al fresco bucket shower. Transport is via scheduled flights and customised safari vehicles.
All meals, two scheduled domestic flights, guiding and transport, set safari activities and park fees are included.
Scheduled Departures or Private?
The Best of Uganda Safari has approx. 12-15 scheduled departures, one or two a month, throughout the year, which may appeal more to solo travellers. The main reason for picking one of these dates is that there will be gorilla tracking permits reserved for guests around them. This will matter even more if you would like to track on two consecutive days. With so few permits being issued each day, you can imagine this could be a real challenge, otherwise.
However, the same itinerary may be possible on a private basis on any departure date of your choice at a broadly similar cost if you are a party of four or more. However, we only confirm the trip once we have obtained gorilla tracking permits. If you plan well ahead, it is still possible to track gorillas twice. But please note that if you are booking within a few months of travel, this would be unlikely.
On private safaris the game drives and vehicle will be exclusive use but activities such as primate tracking and boat cruises will be shared with other guests.
Gorilla Permit: Please note that the Gorilla permit of $800 per person per day is NOT included at this stage, as some clients like to do two gorilla treks. However we will arrange it & include it in your final invoice, along with any extra activities you may wish to do (see below).
Extra Activities:
- Forest walk at $75 per person
- Batwa Pygmies Community Visit at $100 per person
- Gorilla permit of $800 per person per day or $895 for a second permit
