Review of Elewana Serengeti Pioneer camp by Kate

I really liked the ambience of Pioneer camp with its unashamed nod to the era of 1920’s mobile safaris in East Africa. It has an absolutely stunning setting and makes the most of it with its elevated lounge/bar and viewing deck.

The food at lunch was very good, tasty and not too overly-formal in presentation. It bodes well for dinner.

Personally I am not such a fan of colonial-styled camps anymore but I think that it is still an attractive design and very popular with many people. I feel that they could tone it down a notch in the bedrooms, for example. (But that’s nit-picking)

Positives

  • Superb setting
  • Loved the way that the sitting area/bar was making the most of the views with its elevated position
  • Stylish colonial dining mess tent with very good food
  • Attractive tents
  • Small thing – stylish guest loos on arrival with the most interesting basin I encountered J
