Milandi interpreted all our needs perfectly and the tailor-made holiday was way beyond our expectations. As a first time visitor to South Africa, we were quite apprehensive about safety, but all the places chosen for us to stay in were comfortable and hospitable.
Every detail of our trip was well planned and we had a great guide. He was a good driver, very informative and flexible and a great ambassador to South Africa. We particularly liked the fact that we started off our holiday gently with Franschhoek, then bustling Cape Town and the lovely drive along the Garden Route, culminating in the piece de la resistance of the Lalibela Kichaka Game Lodge.
We had a varied and fantastic holiday that we will never forget. Thank you, all at Cedarberg!
Comments about places stayed:
Our first hotel, Le Petit Paris (recommended by our friend) in Franschoek was lovely – good breakfast, friendly staff.
The Portswood (our own choice) in Cape Town was nice enough, a little bit tired but in a perfect location for the Waterfront. The de Kloof Luxury Estate in Swellendam was amazing. The room was stunning, the service and food was great and we wish we could have stayed for another day. The Robberg Beach Lodge was pleasant and the staff were very friendly and the food not bad. I think we were in Plettenberg at a very busy time of the year and whole area was full of tourists, so most of the restaurants were fully booked.
The last and best place we stayed at was The Kichaka Lodge – it was perfection! The room was exquisite, as was the food and wine. We had a fabulous ranger/guide who made our safari experience unforgettable. Our every need was tended to and we have never been anywhere in the world where we have been so spoilt! On our last night, after the New Years Eve party with entertainment and food, we got back to our room to find that a bath (scattered with rose petals) had just been run for us. There was a bottle of champagne and candles – very romantic and indulgent. Apparently they were told by you that it was our wedding anniversary. It was in April (45 years), but thank you for your little white lie – we loved it!
What did you most enjoy? Anything you’d do differently?:
The Lalibela Kichaka Lodge without doubt. We enjoyed the luxury, service and great food and amazing surroundings – plunge pool overlooking the waterhole where elephants come to drink twice a day is hard to beat. The rose petal-strewn bed and warm bath, champagne and tea lights will be a surprise treat we shall always treasure. The experience of seeing wild animals at close range with our trusted ranger – what an adventure!
The beautiful wine lands and gorgeous wines of Franschoek and the wonderful cuisine. We mustn’t come to South Africa during the Christmas holidays as it was too busy and lacking in festive atmosphere. More sunshine would have been welcome, but entirely out of anyone’s control.
How likely is that you would recommend us?:
10 – Extremely likely
